Invisalign® takes a modern approach to straightening teeth.
Many patients want to straighten their teeth without drawing attention to their smiles in the process. If this describes you, Invisalign is the perfect orthodontic treatment for your needs. The Invisalign system uses a series of custom-made clear plastic aligners to gradually shift your teeth into place over time in a predictable, controlled manner. This advanced treatment option can address both bite issues as well as the alignment of your teeth, and every patient’s plan is unique to their situation.
A common misconception is that Invisalign aligners are not as effective as braces, but with Invisalign’s SmartTrack material, the system is a good fit for all but the most complex orthodontic issues. In nearly every circumstance, Invisalign works just as well as traditional metal braces, and treatment times are comparable as well. Because traditional braces are attached to your teeth 24/7, it’s important to wear your Invisalign aligners for the required amount of time each day to prevent treatment time from being prolonged.
Invisalign treatment usually requires between 20 and 30 sets of aligners, worn for one to two weeks over the course of between nine and 18 months. You’ll come to our office for check-ins every six weeks to make sure your treatment is going well and that your teeth are moving how they should, but your aligners will be changed right at home when it’s time––there’s never any painful wire tightening required.
Our patients appreciate Invisalign because:
- Unlike traditional metal braces, Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible. Many adults and teenagers who want straighter teeth but feel self-conscious about the idea of metal braces choose Invisalign for this reason.
- Invisalign aligners can be removed for brushing and flossing, meaning your oral hygiene practices will be unchanged and your teeth won’t be susceptible to stains and cavities around brackets.
- No foods are off-limits with Invisalign since you remove your aligners to eat. You can continue to eat corn-on-the-cob, nuts, sticky candy, popcorn, and other foods that are normally forbidden with traditional braces.
- Invisalign aligners are much more comfortable than braces. Their thin plastic material is less bulky and bothersome than the wires and brackets required for traditional braces.
Once your Invisalign treatment is complete, we will provide you with a set of custom-made retainers to help you maintain your results in the long-term. We also offer complimentary teeth whitening at the end of your treatment as the finishing touch to your smile makeover.
Some patients have the impression that Invisalign treatment is much more expensive than traditional metal braces. You might be surprised to learn that your dental insurance plan covers the cost of your Invisalign treatment, making the costs either comparable or even the same. When you meet with us for a consultation, we will discuss your dental insurance benefits with you to help you determine how much of the cost of Invisalign treatment will be covered by your insurer.
